昂山素姬在她的这些有关讲话中都一再强调监管的待遇只是对她“个人”而言（personally）。有一处她这样说道：“In fact, I have
to be honest to say that throughout these years of detention, they have
treated me well on a personal
basis.（事实上，我不得不诚实地说，这几年监禁，就个人而言他们给我以善待。——三妹译）还有一处她这样说道：“During the years
of detention I have been treated well. I must – I do – appreciate that
on a personal level, but that is not enough. It is not for one person
alone that we move towards democracy, it is for all of
us.”（“几年监禁中，我一直被善待。对我个人而言我必须——我表示——感谢，但这并不够。我们迈向民主就不能只对个人而言，而要对我们全体而言。”
——三妹译。这个“我们全体”当然指的是所有被关押的政治犯——三妹註）。
还有一处她这样说的：“How wonderful would it be if the people were also treated as
nicely as I was (cheers and applause)? But of course I don’t mean that
the people should be put under house arrest. So I would like to plead,
‘Please don’t put the people under house arrest like I was, but please
be nice to the people just as you were nice to me. (Cheers). ”（
“如果人民也像我被善待一样地得到善待那会多么美好啊（欢呼和鼓掌）？当然我不是说人民应该被软禁。所以我要恳求，‘请不要像软禁我那样软禁人民，但请像
善待我那样善待人民。（欢呼）——三妹译”）
“Let me openly tell the people here that I have no grudge against the
people who kept me under restriction (cheers). I believe in human rights
and the rule of law. I will always strive for this. I don’t harbor
hatred of anyone. I have no time for
this.”（让我在此公开地告诉人民，我对监管人员没有怨恨（欢呼）。我相信人权和法治。我将为这个不断抗争。我不会憎恨任何人，我对此没有时间。——

最后要说明的是，昂山素姬的讲话有两个值得一提的要点。一是她强调民主和提升人民道德素养的重要性（to attain democracy and
uplift the morale and qualities of
people）。二是她无数次地强调人民的重要性。她无数次地说“要听人民的声音”。在讲话现场一个记者问她“你为人民做的第一步是什么？”时，她说：
“听人民的声音，只有我想听人民的声音，人民才会转向我，来听我的讲话。”而刘晓波却是个狂言全盘否定中国文化和中国人民的“黑马”。他根本没有像昂山素
姬那样，在说监狱善待自己的同时，要求同样善待所有的政治犯人。刘晓波在《我没有敌人——我的最后陈述》中大段描述监狱从吃饭到睡觉到音乐的播放如何如何
“人性化、柔性化”，将其扩展为整个中国人权的改善，却完全不像昂山素姬那样为其他政治犯说话。刘晓波根本不具备昂山素姬的道德、人格的高度和对人民的大
爱。
